From the Head of Campus Glenroy - Mr Stuart Harrison Vol 3

Cross Country and Swimming Carnival
On Friday 18 February, the Glenroy Campus spent the day at the Oak Park Aquatic Centre. The day began with a 3km cross country run along the Moonee Ponds Creek walking track. The festivities then moved to inside the centre where a number of different swimming races took place, as well as some fun activities in the wading pool and waterslide.

Year 7 Camps
Our Year 7 camp to Camp Manyung in Mt Eliza takes place next week with the following homerooms on these dates:

  • Camp 1 7A, B, D, F, Monday 7 March - Wednesday 9 March
  • Camp 2 7C, E, G, I, J Wednesday 9 March - Friday 11 March

The Year 7 camp is a key highlight of the year and assists students transitioning to secondary school. It assists students to develop a sense of belonging to their group, to learn about themselves, their class mates and teachers, and to meet other Year 7 students in a totally different environment from that of the classroom setting. I will be attending camp 1 and I look forward to getting to know our students.

Year 7 Reflection Days
Over the next two weeks the Year 7 students will be taking part in our Year 7 Reflection Day presented by our Faith & Mission Team. The students will walk with the staff to The Hope Centre in Glenroy, where they will spend the day understanding what it means to belong to a Catholic community and how we can all aim to be better disciples of Jesus Christ. The dates for the reflection days are:

  • Monday 7 March Home Rooms: 7I & 7J
  • Tuesday 8 March Home Rooms: 7C & 7E
  • Thursday 10 March Home Rooms: 7F & 7D
  • Tuesday 15 March Home Rooms: 7A & 7H
  • Wednesday 16 March Home Rooms: 7B & 7G

Year 8 Medieval & Religious Education Day
On Wednesday 9 March our Year 8 students will spend the day completing rotations based on the work that has been completed in their Year 8 Humanities and Religious Education classes. The humanities component will be around life in medieval England and give some insight to what they have been studying. The Religious Education component will consist of exploration of the Eastern Rites of the Catholic Church and iconography.
