Swimming Carnival

Friday 18 February saw the annual Penola House Swimming and Cross Country carnivals occur. Students from all years participated in both events. Whilst it was a typical Melbourne day regarding the weather, both competitions were hotly contested. The cross country run started at Therry Penola footy ground and concluded outside of the Oak Park Leisure Centre. The runners were then swapped for the bathers, and it was into the pool where there were some brilliant races with close finishes! Congratulations to all students who participated and represented their house with immense pride. Well done to Sancta Sophia on their victory in the cross country defeating Smyth by 9 points! MacKillop were victorious in the pool with Nolan narrowly finishing ahead of Geoghegan to claim the silver. A big thank you to Mr Chris Caldow, Mr Peter Ratcliffe and Mr Colin Peasnell for arriving early and setting up, Mrs Webb and Ms Ennor for their wonderful work with the Year 11 Sport and Recreation students. Mr Dean Bird for all of the hours he put into making the day an enjoyable one and all of the staff who assisted in various roles.
