Penola Catholic College sports program provides students of all abilities with rewarding and enjoyable experiences, while promoting a healthy lifestyle and striving towards their best academic outcomes.

At school level Penola is structured with Inter-house competition is organised around the six College Houses – Geoghegan, Mackillop, Nolan, Sancta Sophia, Therry and Smyth. The House names reflect the history of Catholic service to our region since 1901.

At inter school level, Penola Catholic College is a member of the Sports Association of Catholic Coeducational Secondary Schools (SACCSS).

This sporting organization provides the structure for our inter school competitions in a range of sports including: swimming, athletics, hockey, football, soccer, futsal, netball, basketball, tennis and golf. With all sporting events; participation is our over-riding aim.

Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 students have the opportunity to participate in Premier League whereby they can compete in one of 8 sports for a fixture for their nominated school term. These options range from boys and/or girls teams in basketball, volleyball, soccer, netball, cricket and football.

Senior students can participate in the Senior SACCSS competition involving cricket, football (boys and girls), soccer (boys and girls) and netball. These fixtures are spread across the appropriate seasons of the year.

Throughout the year there are also tournaments for different year levels such as futsal, tennis, chess, basketball, rugby and hockey.

The Penola Catholic College sporting calendar also involves major carnivals for our Houses. These include swimming carnival, athletics carnival and cross country carnival. Excelling students at these carnivals have the opportunity to represent the school at interschool level (SACCSS).

There are many sporting opportunities at Penola and we strongly encourage sport as a major educational pursuit. All students involved in sport are expected to meet the academic requirements made of them by teaching staff.
